My Embarrassing Story

One of my most embarrassing moments occurred a few years ago it involves my Mum, Eve and I. The day began as every other sunday began sleeping in and not wanting to do anything all day. We decided to go to the mall and do some grocery shopping.

We got ready for the day and hopped into our car when we finally arrived at the mall we searched for a free car park on top of the building among all the cars and people. We  went down the escalators and entered Pak n Save. We grabbed a trolley and began our  shop as we browsed through the food aisles and in the many rows we came to the checkout and got into a line we paid for our food and then exited Pak n Save. Once we were out we made our way to the carpark.

We strolled around the mall until we came to the two escalators that led to our car we walked up the first one and almost made it up the second until at that moment we heard an anxious yell come from behind us Mum and I turned around to see Eve tears streaming down her face and her finger pointing down at her undone shoelace with the end caught in the escalator Mum rushed over to try and pull the lace out but it wouldn’t budge. As the end of the escalator neared towards us we had no other choice. Mum reached out and pushed the big red circle that read emergency stop button. She pushed down on it and with a loud creek the escalator came to a stop.

As person after person walked past some giggling and ignoring us while others occasionally stopping and asking if we were alright one person even offered Eve a lolly. After what seemed like hours of trying to loosen the shoelace a lady came up to us and handed us some scissors we cut through the lace and rushed out of the mall as fast as we could. Even though it may have been stressful, irritating and embarrassing at the time a few years later it is now something that we can look back on and laugh at.
